Who are We?

The History

Sciences for Girls, or SciGi (pronounced Sci-Gee), is an association born from the observation of the low proportion of women in scientific academic and professional environments.

Its purpose is to inspire scientific vocations among young girls.

To achieve this goal, SciGi offers both remote and in-person activities. It notably uses social networks, as well as its online Blog, to highlight testimonials from inspiring women scientists who are fulfilled in their work and those who have marked the History of Science but are not talked about enough.

During in-person activities, the Association organizes exchanges between its mentors and young middle and high school girls who discover various scientific careers, some of which are little-known or misunderstood, related to Science, Engineering, and Technology.

These activities take place during interventions in schools, at forums, or during meet-up events organized by the association and its partners.

The Objective

Our objective is to respond to a need for representation and information by creating a reference platform for young girls passionate about Science.

We thus wish to show that Science is a field truly accessible to all, in order to encourage more women to engage in scientific environments.

The Mission

To inspire and encourage scientific vocations among young girls through the creation of an engaged community.

Composed of scientific professionals and students from middle schools to universities, this community is founded on sharing diverse and valuable information.

We highlight women who have marked history and those who are still acting for science today, to show that science is a field accessible to all.

"Give young girls the freedom to choose
.=‘’/>and pursue their vocations
beyond stereotypes..."

Our values are the set of principles we defend; they guide our decisions. Knowing our values allows us to avoid betraying our beliefs and losing our identity.

Our values are the points on which we accept no compromise; they are our commitments to our users, our organization, and ourselves, so it is important to work with collaborators and partners who align with them.

Pushed to the extreme, our values are the points without which our organization no longer exists.

Vision Values

Awaken and
nurture curiosity

Because the number of high school girls choosing scientific studies continues to drop. It is more necessary than ever to awaken and nurture their curiosity, a skill that will be useful to them in all areas.

Offer equal
opportunities to all

At Sciences for Girls, we want to participate in creating a fair world. All young girls should be able to claim the same opportunities, for this reason we neither accept nor practice any form of favoritism

Offer diverse representation

For too long, women scientists have been excluded from textbooks. That's why today we honor them by highlighting them on our various platforms.

Promote
community

Because no one should have to face obstacles alone, it is important for us to cultivate an engaged community, working together towards the same goal. As the proverb says: “Alone we go faster, together we go further.”

Mutual
support

So that everyone can “thrive, we want to establish an environment based on kindness,” listening, respect, and above all, mutual help. Whether it's with our members or through mentoring, with SciGi it's no longer a question of being left to oneself.

Make information accessible to all

Knowledge is a precious tool that, when we know how to use it, can open many doors for us. It is based on this principle that we have decided to make the information we share as accessible as possible and thus benefit the greatest number.

Target audience

An organization like ours is led to interact with many different actors and to respond to the needs of those who are our target audiences.

Some seem obvious, others reveal themselves over time, so we remain attentive to requests and changes in order to maintain a relevant target list.

In our specific case, the target audiences are as follows:

  • Middle school girls
  • High school girls
  • Parents
  • Middle schools
  • High schools
  • Universities
  • Other institutions related to education;
  • Companies…
