Lack of Girls in Science: “without this Encounter, I Would Never Have been Interested in Aeronautics”

A first year in STMG (Management and Business Sciences), a final year in ES (Economic and Social Sciences), and a first year of economics degree during Covid… Nothing predestined Canelle to be interested in aeronautics. Yet, it was large companies like Vinci, Dassault, and Air France that ended up making her dream. In 2020, to break away from the few remote classes at university, Canelle joined the Rev’ELLES association, which aims to support young women in their personal and professional lives. “I was supposed to accompany middle school girls for an immersion day organized by Vinci,” says the 22-year-old student. “I eventually learned that they couldn’t come. I hesitated a lot about going: I was a bit afraid of finding myself alone with an engineer for an entire day. It just goes to show how close I was to missing out.”…
